Re: CG Galactica
On your shot of the engine section it looks like you have 2 vertices sharing a plane. If you look at the roco tank you will see a "brighter" area around a disk detail on the roco tank you built. Either that or you have a different surface name for that area.
Open your statistics panel, select polygons by hitting the space bar, then look at the "2" vertices selection within the panel. See if it show's more than "2" vertices within the polygon's. If it does select the vertices within the panel and delete them. All from within modelor of course. :) |
Re: CG Galactica
I never spoted that ......

Re: CG Galactica
I'm getting closer to finishing the Hull detail and will perhaps start filming some flyby's. In the meantime, here is where I am.

Re: CG Galactica
OMG you made the switch to LW  that was unexpected :)
I fully understand why and makes perfect sense. Looking good and coming a long way since I last looked. Makes me wonder what my ships would like in LW Hmmmm thats a long way off yet cheers. |

But it all came down to cost... LW is a much cheaper program and comes with a bunch of stuff right out of the box. With Max, it is expensive, plus I would have to get a bunch of other plug-ins, which are even more expensive. So after mulling this over, I made the switch. It was like learning to walk all over again. But I'm getting the hang of it and I'm pretty excited with what I can do. One of the biggest selling points too, was that LW was offering Poser Pro 2012 when you bought LW. I was able to create this scene. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...reland_Ale.jpg The Character I created in poser... The bottles and other stuff was modeled in Lightwave. I exported the character into Lightwave layout... Happy Saint Patrick's day everyone! :salute: |
Re: CG Galactica
Lightwave is the ONLY way to fly!
:) |
Re: CG Galactica
Yes... I'm amazed how much I have gotten more used to modeling the Lightwave way... I still find my self trying to use old key strokes I used in Max, but I'm at least catching myself doing it now.
Anyhew, I'm working on laser cannons. Here is my first version. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...erCannnon1.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...erCannnon2.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...onConcept1.jpg  |
Re: CG Galactica
Just had install a new HD on my computer... All I can say is "Thank the Lords of Cobalt" for Carbonite...
I was able to recover all my hard work... Man, am I in a better place now. Started working on another laser cannon. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...serCannon2.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...erCannon2a.jpg Started working on anther laser cannon. |
Re: CG Galactica
Good basis for the laser cannons. :)
|
Re: CG Galactica
I started working on the side area where I believe the laser cannons used to hide out. Below will be where the launch tubes go. But for now, I'm creating the laser cannon Detail.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...acticaGunS.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...cticaGunS2.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...cticaGunS4.jpg I'll be adding more, so that they go down the entire length. |
Re: CG Galactica
I added the Viper Launch tubes... I'm still deciding if I want to angle them or not or just have them shoot straight out, like on the new series. I guess it really depends on how much more work I want to do on that.

Re: CG Galactica
OK, so I thought it was about time I added the name plate to my Galactica.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica10.jpg I also worked on adding more laser cannons and some other details to the AFT section. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica11.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica12.jpg I do plan on modeling some bigger guns, to add more variety. But all in due time. Just for fun, I wanted to re-create one of my favorite scenes. "The turbo lasers"" http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...unch_Tube7.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica15.jpg Going to be working on more ship detail over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to start animating soon. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica16.jpg  |
Re: CG Galactica
OK... Getting really close to completion. I'm pretty happy how it is turning out so far and I'm proud of myself for taking the leap into Lightwave.
I was so stressed over making the switch. But I'm really excited with what I've been able to do so far... Thanks in part to all my fellow Lightwavers, who have really been a huge help. Thank you all for your help, tips, and encouragement. It was very strange going from one platform to another. But it has paid off. That being said... I have now started adding detail to the belly of Galactica and will probably add a few more weapons to the top and front. http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica23.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica25.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...alactica24.jpg Thanks again everyone. |
Re: CG Galactica
Your Lightwave modelling is improving...keep it up!

Re: CG Galactica
I'm working on creating a CG character for the background and cockpit scenes. I'm not very good at modeling people or clothing, so I'm borrowing the uniform from another character and modifing the texture. The original texture was leather, so the suede looks glossy. I'll work on fixing that.
http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...ViperPilot.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...iperPilot2.jpg http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...iperPilot3.jpg This is a very slow process. Lots of photo-shopping, cutting and pasting. But getting there. |
