Gaming Models

Looking for some decent gaming models? Then make your stop here- http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/dock.php?r=bsg

It appears to be mods for the Starfleet Command game, but those tend to be easily adapted for other gaming mods as well if it's just the meshes you need :)

Here's some more, but maybe they're the same ones?

I found some other SIMS a long time ago. Of Athena and Starbuck I think. I tried to find them again, but it seems they've vanished into the digital ether.

Wow thanks!

Xenophanes March 26th, 2006 08:12 PM

Umm... Does anyone know how I can convert the models to .x format?

Star Dragon April 9th, 2006 02:20 PM

Useful links, however it's better to post a repository of base format models (.3ds,.cob.,.lwo, .obj ect...) Some of those I have been able to convert oveer for Freespace2 (with permission of course) but for things as exotic liek teh sims??? I have no clue where to begin.

If someone were to convert these into standard formats everyoen woudl benefit more as then they can access the meshes. I have literally hundreds of models from diff games I;ve owned that I can't access (either no converter exists, or is not publicly know.)

As for .x files Lithunwrap has an extension of .X importation, however I never have gotten a .X file (like from SFC3) to successfully open in it.. I don't know if the version I have is just too old and newer versions are better at it (1.3 the last FREE version) or if it never worked to begin with?

I found program that can convert 3d-meshes: http://www.i-war2.com/downloads/3DExp1833b.exe
or the product site: http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dexp/index.htm

For what I have been toying with it for couple days, it seems to be decent and has support for multiple types of files.

Does anyone know of any decent BSG Mods for the Jedi knight Series?

olmecslayer July 29th, 2006 09:45 AM

Hi. I am new to this forum. I just want to say that I have tried some of these models and they are realy great. Very detailed. I am the author of a program called 3D Sci-fi Movie Maker which can import 3d studio models and animate them. If anyone is interested in trying out some of there models in this progeam, go to my website:- www.galacticsoft.co.uk. There is a 3d converted that will quite happily convert lightwave and most other formats to 3ds.

I would be happy to hear any feedback from anyone.

Steve,

Hi I am new here and I was wonder where, if any I might find some models of BG ships. I am hoping to convert them to x files. I have a converter but at present I can only use models that 3d max 8 can import which at present rules out the battleclinic.com because the starfleet command tool only works on 3d max 5 and below.

Viper12 October 21st, 2006 01:57 AM

I to am looking for Battlestar "X" files format to use in the Dark Basic programming language. I hope to make a simple game, but I wont be able to if I can't find any viper and others in "X" format.

Aggie_John October 21st, 2006 01:33 PM

Viper 12,

Hay there is the panda exporter out there. I convert 3dmax files and its associated files to x files for Galactic Civ II all the time. My only problem here is that the files I keep finding are lightwave not max files.

Aggie_John October 21st, 2006 06:20 PM

I am guessing this is the wrong place to ask but that 5 post thing? Is the rescrition lifted automatically or do I need to contact an admin?

Viper12 October 21st, 2006 09:56 PM

Hey Aggie_John,

I'm having quite a bit of trouble finding the right files. There are plenty out there but not in the format that I want. Even if I was to find "X" format files or a program to convert them, Dark Basic has quite a few limitations on what it will load - ie low poly and only one bitmap which can only be up to 256 x 256, so as you can imagine, the chance that I will find any suitable is quite slim.

Aggie_John October 22nd, 2006 08:57 AM

Yeah you have a good point. I am using 3d max 8, that gives me alot of options. However, perhaps we could help each other out. I am just looking for models right now. If you find any I could convert them for yeah since were both looking to use xfile format files. Me, I am using them in Galactic Civ II.

Viper12 October 22nd, 2006 07:59 PM

Thanks, I will keep a lookout.

You probably already know about - http://scifi3d.theforce.net/

I also dabble in lightwave, version 5.6. So any Lightwave Mesh pages you know about would be apreciated.

Re: Gaming Models

Battleclinic is a great place for models. I also used to participate at scifi-meshes.com. Thats where I met Coxxon and have used his low poly colonial and cylon fleets in a few (new 2003) BSG mods. I do have trouble finding Origional series models though.

I was going to attempt a huge Scifi crossover mod using the Warcraft 3 engine. I have so far most BSG (2003), Star trek TOS and DS9 era ships. I wanted to add main Starwars ships as well as the cherry on top BSG TOS ships. I would have ballanced tech and each race would have its strenghts abilities and weakness.

For instance Battlestars are highly resistant to beam and lazer weapons but nukes and quantom torpedos do good damage.

I will try to post pics of the models I personally made once i have some BSG models done.
