New Warrior Girl Drawing WIP
I've been away from the forums for a bit, but now I'm back. Though while I was away I started drawing again.
I figure we need something fun and old BG to talk about so rather than wait till I'm done, I'm gong to illustrate the steps in the creation of a Warrior chick! http://tommy.elitegamer.com/post/warriorchick0.jpg This is the first initial rough. I haven't drawn with paper for some time so it came out AWFUL! The head is too big and disjointed from the body!!!! I used a blue colerase pencil. |
okay... so that sucked. So I scanned it and decided to rough out some parts in photoshop.
http://tommy.elitegamer.com/post/warriorchick1.jpg Head is better proportioned, and got some flow in the new arm. |
But the whole drawing was kinda stiff and boring! Basically she is just standing there. Plus I had the bright idea I should probably get back to working with pencil rather than photoshop.
So I started again from scratch, and gave some tilt to her hips and ribcage. http://tommy.elitegamer.com/post/warriorchick2.jpg Now we got some character in the pose! |
But then Tom goes changing his mind about using pencils and scanns it BACK into photoshop.
http://tommy.elitegamer.com/post/warriorchick3.jpg From there I flesh out the drawing some more. The face btw is also in photoshop. For some reason I didn't use red. I'm also learning how hard that warrior helmet is to draw upsidedown and at a funny angle. :/: I added more curve to her legs so it wouldn't go in a straight line from hip to foot. I also moved her thumbs up to the side so it would be more visible and stand out more. |

I decidedher right arm is too weak. It should be more energetic. So I raise it higher. I also spend time getting a decent face going. :D And damn the red ink! (more to come later) |
This is cool Thomas! Wait till my daughter sees this!
:muffit: |
This is great stuff Thomas, when your done will you allow her to date?
|
this is really coming together Thomas, keep at it!

I did ALOT of work. I spent alot of time getting the boots and helmet right. The boots btw are Sidi Full Bore, Motorcross boots. I'm lucky that they are on the web. :D http://www.classicboots.com/moto/fullbore.htm I like how its looking sofar. :D and repcisg- I think she's probably taken! :D --- Okay now I want to take in some feedback on what I should do. I'm debating if I should add a gun and holster to her. If I do it the gun will end up on the right side cause she is a left handed. :D Do you think I should add a GUNBELT? or leave it out? |
Oh darn!

I changed her face a bit. Also decided to make the raised hand in more stronger position. I want her to say something like "Keep the faith!" So I figure her hand should be more emphatic. Also did some jacket trimmings and the other hand got reworked. The post looks a bit standard... but I'm goig to see where this goes. The next step is a BIG one. I'm going to redo all the lines to get a smooth line quality. The result really makes a big difference. :D |
She's looking really great Thomas!
Gunbelt, hmmm. they never flew without them.... but I don't want to block the helmet are you sure she's a lefty? I like how the hand hip and helmet are on her left side. The jacket & boots look great. Jewels |
Maybe we should call her Brie.
|
Does she look like Brie? I like Brie, she was very very pretty. But I didn't have her in mind when I created this. :D
Jewels- The gunbelts tended to hang kinda low. So I don't think there would be much of a conflict. The belt is worn on a diagonal slant, and the gun holster actually starts several inches below the belt. There is a band of fabric connecting the holster to the belt. :D Supposedly there should be that oversized calculator on her right leg (thigh). I could add it. Its rectangular and blocky. So its easy to draw. Higher up should be that language translator Apollo used to talk to the Ovions.:D |

I love it! and if I see you at the con can I buy a copy of it?The only other "Galactica" artist whose work I admire is Matt Bush and he tends to draw from photographs.Good work, but still. This is a original work of art and well done.Say maybe "Galactica" could be done as a animated series?Nope been done before(Star Trek,Ghostbusters,Stargate,Bttf)
