Battlestar Pegasus on IMAX?

I was on the Sci Fi Board today reading a post and pp303 mentions that Glen Larson is working on a Battlestar Pegasus IMAX movie. Is there any validity to this statement?

Yes, Glen has had a script on his desk for about 4-5 years, but Universal will not sanction it.

Didn't he also have a trailer in the vein of Richard Hatch's Second Coming trailer but unlike Hatch only insiders got a peek at it! It said to include a brief shot of another Battlestar called "Atlantis" with Vipers flying around her going off somewhere unknown? Some of this was on Corona, years back (it may still be there?)

IMAX was a very bad idea, IMAX is for shows, documentaries, short films, animated shorts and specially commissioned movies i.e. special editions and such. Selling Galactica through this medium was a desperate idea to just get the name of Galactica out there again. Movies or TV series sure but IMAX? Larson Larson, whats going on with you. There was also the "Battlestar Galactica Movie" website which became something else which fans mock Larson for? but did have art concepts and storyboards which fleshed out the story he had in mind. Along with some interviews with Todd Moyer.

DarkHorizons.com had a mention. The trailer does exist. I haven't seen it, but I know from a direct source that it existed. Why it was never released to the web as a marketing tool, I don't know. Unlike Richard's trailer, it didn't feature any SAG (Screen Actors Guild) members. It was pure CG.

At the time, IMAX was (and still is) looking for the "next big thing." It was also a potential channel for Larson to bring back BG.

Well Michael lets hope alot of BG related materials surface next year which is this up coming Wednesday heh. Wouldn't it be so great to see both trailers in some form or another??? Not to mention footage Hatch filmed but cut out and other variations of the Second Coming trailer! Also i'm sure you're busy planning the 25th Anniversary of Battlestar Galactica with getting the venue, guests, events etc all worked out.

Hope it's a mega event cos as soon as January hits it's ganna be 9 months 17 days away!!!... As for the Larson stuff, true thinking about it twice it would be good to see on a larger than usual screen, but that Pegasus version would have sounded better if Larson could have involved live action footage of scenes involving actors or a story running through his trailer not just CGI! Still till the Larson trailer shows up or is debated a little more indepth , what we got is just tip bits of info seeing it would shed more light and give us more to talk or campaign for in terms of a revival. Hey Larson could have gotten rid of the walking Vipers idea come principal photograph couldn't he? Ah the possibilities of directions this old series could have followed!

On the IMAX front, Next Big Thing sure, it possible but unless it gets cheaper or more available to have one close to you instead of going to special areas where on is based. Then IMAX will go the way of The DIVX player! Bigger in terms of concept maybe (get info elsewhere on the differences between a DVD and DIVX player), superior in terms of size, scope, and entertainment provided? Yes and no, IMAX does offer different stuff besides films but even if you could go to one near you. It's audience is different because of what it is! Not just the fact it's a large screen with movies every now and then.

Sure is good to debate this but lets not wander of subject. Too true Michael wish we could see Larson's planned BG as much as all the various Richard Hatch Second Coming trailers as well!

KJ

Peace
