2012 I made my own USS Enterprise and in 2017 I looked at doing a reimagined version, mostly so I am not restricted to the scale of the classic as I found it undersize's, so after a few months playing with the scale using a basic frame for decks and deck and hull thickness (1ft min) I established a better working scale (in my view) of 1311.5ft.

I also built a reimaged shuttle and EVA suit based on TMP

this is the result, I am hoping to start a BSG version, not duplicating the details.

For sure, it rather dystopian very like the direction Star Trek looks to be going now, I remember when it (Blakes7) was first shown on TV first season was just before Star Wars shown in Ireland and Star Trek was still shown in reruns. happy days.

My favourite character was Avon, but that happened when I was older, he gave the show a dynamic that made it stand out, though he needed Blake to bounce off to make it work. when the Blake /Gareth Thomas left the show it was not as good IMO.

The visuals were always cheap and uninteresting apart from the Liberator design and the London prison ship.

I was amused by the fact the villains of the show are called the Federation.

And as with Star Trek Enterprise, I wish to explore the scale and see if things work or need to be refined. for me fun. :)

I did the same with the Enterprise, checking the scale of the Galactica (using Folkrm model) posted in the past and so on.

Continued
It must be over a year since I last posted art in this thread.
As I render large images I will post from my Blog.

One of my favourite Novels is RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA a science fiction novel by Arthur C. Clarke first published in 1973. the story involves a 50-by-20-kilometre (31 by 12 mi) cylindrical alien star ship that enters the Solar System. The story is told from the point of view of a group of human explorers who intercept the ship in an attempt to unlock its mysteries. The solar survey vessel Endeavour is sent to study Rama, as it is the only ship close enough to do so in the brief period Rama will spend in the solar system.

I have long wanted to try and create this, here are some details
Solar Survey Vessel
Clarke Class
S.S.V. Endeavour
Displacement: 5000+ Tons

Length in feet 559.8
Height in feet 112.3
Width in feet 245.5
