Martok's return..

Martok's Return...

Well folks, I got some good news and some not so great news.

The not so great news is that some of my baggage got lost in transit on the way down to NOLA. I will hopefully be able to contact the bus terminal today to find out if my stuff finally arrived, since the attendant said she was 95% sure that my missing luggage will turn up this morning.

Now for the good news. My apartment, and my friend's apartment are both fine. Everything in my apartment was exactly where I'd left it. (The food of course has sprouted new civilizations that must be annihilated via the dumpster.)

Folks, my street, and the street perpendicular to it are studies in contrast. On my street, it mostly looks fine and intact, with no tree damage, bldg damage, etc. And I also find that power and internet are still running in these apartments...hell yeah!

The neighboring street is almost the total opposite. Downed trees, windows smashed in, boards still up from pre-Katrina.

Metairie and Kenner, for the most part look fine, but it wasn't until we hit a couple of inner streets that some of the hurricane damage became apparent. But in this section of town, I think that plenty of people will be able to either start over with minimal troubleor at the very least, pick up where they left off in their lives.

I'll be able to start working again tonight...and according to my boss, as far as male vocals go for the major clubs I play, I'm the only game in town. I get a feeling I will be a tired Klingon in a few weeks.

All in all, it's good to be home.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, prayers, and general good will (and even offers of assistance) during this most trying time.

Yours truly,
Martok2112 (Steve Dunlap) :salute:

Its good to hear you are finally home, Martok, and that work is available. Hope the luggage completes the trip as well.. three out of three would be cool

Mother nature can be fickle and vicious...but Lady Luck has been your friend.. May she continue to smile on you..

Cheers,
Lara

ps at the risk of sounding like an old nag....please remember to take care of that voice of yours... leave 'em wanting more if necessary!!

Steve,

Looks like this might be the "long patrol" for ya, eh?

:)

Good to hear that all is as it was for you. What you described, of your immediate area, reminds me of pictures that I've seen of tornado damage where it would go through a neighborhood, completely wiping out houses on one side and leaving the ones on the other side untouched.

Take care of those vocal cords.

:)

Pete

Greyhound must be run by Cylons

Steve I hope that you get your missing luggage back soon and take care of that voice. glad to hear the only thing you lost in your home was food which can be replaced!

martok2112 October 17th, 2005 08:38 AM

Just heard from the bus station...my luggage arrived. YEAH!!!!!!

Soon as I get it, all will be well :)

Gotta admit, my voice is shot after my first night. (Haven't done this in a month...so hopefully I will get a few days off before rockin again.) Also might have to see if they'll throw up the drum cage again.

I am anxious to pick up a good chroma-key proggie so I can start doing good work with my Galactica miniatures.

Yumping for yoy again,
Martok2112 :D

Glad to hear your stuff was found. they of course are a) sending it my the same guy who put it on the wrong bus, b) Sending it via UPS , c) Make you go to whereever they found it and make you pick it up. d) personally deliver it to you with a written apology.

Guess you can call off the airstrike.

Now breathe easier, bro.

Airstrike called off. All Looneys have been returned to the assylum.

I'm just glad the rain has stopped here after 9 fracking days! It did a number on a major highway in the state by causing a major sinkhole.

hope things are returning to normal or what can pass for normal in your neck of the woods Steve.

martok2112 October 20th, 2005 05:57 AM

My friend brought the rest of my stuff yesterday, so now I have everything I started out with. (Including my Galactica miniatures.)

Once I get a hold of a good chroma-key proggie, I'm gonna start work on some fanfilming....or at least start generating some FX for others' fanfilms.

Martok2112 is now a happy campa once uh-gin! :D

bsg1fan1975 October 20th, 2005 10:16 AM
