Sorry I haven't inputed into this forum yet. I actually have been working on this.

Its a far cry from being done, but tranquility base, we have managed to output a mesh from my 3d program and into the webrowser. I'm not talking about a simple 2d picture either. I mean a full 3d model into the browser! And I was able to move around the model in space and walk around it. Or rather fly... I don't have a body in the browser ...yet.

I also applied bitmap textures on the model. Which worked pretty well. Though it seems bump maps aren't rendered.

Also the it looks like the main programing language we will use is one Muffit already knows. Javascript. And there are a few tutorials I see for multi user inputs.

Currently I am building a bride of the Galactica to import into the browser.

Wow Thomas! Soooo coooool!! Hey! Is there a place on this server we can exchange your work in progress? I opened a new folder under the html root, called "wog_temp", if you want to use that. I can point a subdomain to an index.html file there if you like!

Thanks muffit!

Why don't you create a subdomain with a more permanent name and include a WIP folder in it? That seems to make more sense. :)

Tom spent some time last night plotting out the galactica bride floorplans. Also worked out some kinks with his exporting of models. Now he can put a character into a scene and make it walk and move.

Though I don't know how to make it obey the user. I think that will be a muffit programming thing. But I can provide a character now, and it can have a list of predefined animation movements.

:)

this is my test. took a character that I got online, stuck him in a box I made with some textures on the wall and floor. He aims his gun and shoots. And you can move around him in 3d as he does it.

This s very crude start. Very very crude. But I was just learning. This is my first time making a head like this. And its rough and very low in poly count because it is part of the game. And well... its my first time. And I know I will have to do it again.

But its a start.

Hey Thomas,
So, could you give me (us?) some info on your 3d world. Are the tests your running now based on what you think you'll be using for the actually site? And, what game is your character imported from? My point with the questions is, are you far enough along that you could point us in the direction of what to use to start building skins for the personalities?

I've never done it before. But if you have some specifics, I can start looking for some tutorials. Maybe even help out if I can.
