Admittedly, I don't know very much about this exciting revival, although I loved the original series and only sorta, kinda, liked the new mini. If I had to choose one or the other, . . . there can be only one . . .
Your picture of Athena here is glorious and beautiful. I can't let this go un commented.
I also don't know very much about CFF. I have heard that they plan to do a full page ad in a magazine like Variety or some such thing. If that ad were to be a collage of different pictures, I would nominate this to be part of it. A good portion of the lower right corner would be perfect. All of us, of some sort or other, are Galactica fans trying to . . . keep the faith.
Thanks Tom.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I'm hoping that if they ever do a videogame based on our gang that maybe I can do some art for it. That would be a dream come true!
And yes, we are all trying to keep the faith. WE'll get our show. not today, or tommorrow, or next month. But a year from now? Or two? That's a definite probable possibility!!!!!!

She looks really great tom, how do you produce such fantastic images, do you draw them free hand first then scan it into the pc and then touch it up with colour
and shadows etc with a art program ...I have recently downloaded a program called " Project Dogwaffle". which is digital image paint and animation software.
 :salute:

I'm sorry about the slow reply. I missed the question part of your post.

I really change my M.O. alot. I keep shifting depending on my mood. Each way has its own plusses and minuses.
But A wacom or similiar tablet is an absolute must to draw on the computer.
Drawing in a computer has its benefits. Drawing with a pencil has its advantages. With a pencil its easier and more natural. But with a computer its easier to play around with different ideas and move things around.
OH HOLY CRAP... I forgot about Taggert... I was suppose to write this up for him for his Frack... Oh well...Damn...
Anyways... Sometimes I ink in the computer. Inking by hand is easier...but it requires more talent and is easy to make mistakes. A good program for inking is Macromedia Flash. And Adobe Illustrator is good for finetuning the ink. Or I may draw or ink it then scan it. And if it don't look good, I'll use a program called Adobe Streamline to make the lines nice and smooth.
Eventually it has to make its way to photoshop where I color it.

Thanks for the advice Tom , Before, when I was younger, I was a fair free hand Artist drawing in pencil and pen.. mainly doing actors like Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones which was quite good " (that's what I think anyway) ",
I will look around for the Tablet, the wacom tablet well there are no dealers in Dublin anyway , (Blast it anyway) For Wacom .. Well I have been intrested in doing something in an artistic line for some time for my long dormant creative side.
looking at all the art here and in other site's, this is something I wish to try and develop and see what come out of it.
Well I have been inspired by what I have seen by all of you Creative people.

I love her the 2D woman of my dreams.
If a big screen live action movie failed would people watch an animated show with that look above?
thomas7g
August 7th, 2004, 02:42 PM
I would!
That's actually one of the things I had in mind when I created her. To me it would make perfect sense since we have the problem of the characters aging and some of the cast will not be able to come back.
There is also this excellent new technology coming. Its been used to create a animated cell shaded look with computer generated 3d models. The advantage of making a 3d model look 2d is that it is alot easier for the computer to produce. So you costs will drop down dramatically. If you go over to http://www.a-seed.jp/index2.html you can see an example of this.

It looks pretty good! And I could easily see a new TOS series being done this way.
