but i recived this in a e-mail and thought i would pass it on.

Subject: RESPONSE TO CBS

Apparently we are to be allowed to watch TV programs that use every foul word in the English Language, but not the word "God." It will only take a minute to read this and see if you think you should send it out.

DR. DOBSON'S PLEA FOR ACTION

CBS will discontinue "Touched by an Angel" for using the word God in every program. Madeline Murray O'Hare, an atheist, successfully managed to eliminate the use of Bible reading from public schools a few years ago. Now her organization has been granted a Federal Hearing on the same subject by the Federal Communications commission (FCC) in Washington, DC. Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the reading of the gospel our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America. They got 287,000 signatures to back their stand!

If this attempt is successful, all Sunday worship services
being broadcast on the radio or by television will be stopped. This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and Christmas carols from public schools!! You as a Christian (or any other religious background) can help! We are praying for at least 1 million signatures. This would defeat their well and
concerned about our Country. As Christians we must unite on this.

Please don't take this lightly. We ignored this lady once and lost prayer in our school and in offices across the nation. Please stand up for your religious freedom and let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference in our country while creating and for the lost to know the Lord.

Please press "forward", CLEAN UP THE MESSAGE, and forward this to everyone that you think should read this. Now, please sign your name at the bottom (you can only add your name after you have pressed the "Forward"). Don't delete any other names, just go to the next number and type your name and state. Please do not sign jointly, such as Mr. &Mrs. Each person should sign his/her own name. Please defeat this organization and keep the right of our freedom of religion.

When you get to 1500 please email back to: "Lisa
Norman" at electric_yello@hotmail.com

there was a bunch of names below that, but i thought if any want to start this mail rolling you could copy and paste it and send it off, to your friends and family. once it hits 1500 they would send it back to her.

I agree with you 100%. How sad that they would rather
listen to the likes of Hammer, Bammer and MOORE rather
then that of Good traditional FAMILY values which is what
the MAJORITY of PEOPLE want to pass on to their children.

I believe this is a hoax. Edit: I know this is a hoax. Go here: http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HBUrbanMyths.shtml#fccreligious and go about a third the way down the page.

According to a search I've done on the FCC site, the results for a search on this petition number brings up a 27 year old case involving restricting station ownership opportunities for religious groups. It does not reference the O'Hara athiest group.

It also states that the FCC denied that petition, but the rumors about it persist, 27 years later.

So I wouldn't put much faith in this - it's somebody who's after something else, probably.

Edit2: Nightscape, I'd run a virus scan if I were you.

Frankly, I'm amazed...

Please don't think me rude, but I really am amazed - amazed at the fact that just because something is in writing, gets passed around on the internet and then shows up in our mailboxes unsolicited and you still take it serioulsly.

Just reading the e-mail itself is enough to discredit it.... Absolute bollocks (to borrow one of Peter's words) is what it is!

I'm not surprised though that Dawg was able to quickly check it out and determine that it was a hoax - all it takes is just a bit of time to look into it and see it for what it really is.

Don't beleive everything you read just beacuse it shows up in your mailbox!

My best to all,
Bryan

Concerning the religion question....What I don't understand is why they are picking on the Christians? Doesn't any of the other religions grate on their nerves? I do realize that it is the Christian faith that monopolizes the airways. I am Agnostic (not to be confused with atheist) I do not believe in organized religion, but I will defend everyone's right to practice it. I realize that the money screamers grate my nerves, but I just turn the channel. I think prayer in the schools should be generic to cover all religions. Religion does provide some people cover for illiceit actions...but for many it is a ray of hope and I will not crush that for anyone.
As far as things in writing I also research and question. I use to believe things in writing, but I have wised up.

The christians are just the biggest organised religion to aim at. YOu know once they're gone, it'll be muslims, then hindus, buddhists,, jews then all the smaller cults and things until all you've got left is state propoganda.

Well that's what some people want, anyway... in a free country, it would be very hard for it to happen, but that isn't for want of trying on the part of some organisations.
