People have been bringing in their perscriptions, mostly early, 'just in case'.
Every store in the area is sold out of d-batteries and bottled water.
I've gotten calls from people checking in to make sure I'm prepared for Thursday.
I'm still going to go to work, unless they tell me not to.

here we are only supposed to get alot of wind and rain from Isabel. Hoping that everyone in the affected area comes through the storm okay.

All the schools in the state announced they will be closed tomorrow, as did one hospital. The Govener has called up the National Guard. We sold out of batteries, flashlights, and radios tonight, and people had started dipping into the candle section when I left.

Looks like she came on land today. I hope everyone is ok too.
I have a friend I'm going to see in Baltimore Saturday, right now he is without power, due to weather related issues.
I have to catch a connecting flight in Charolett NC then on to BWI. Hope the weather is cleared up by then.:D

I tuned up my parents generator, bought plenty of gasoline, put my steel shutters on, Huricane Fran got my sliding gass doors. Moved all my stuff upstairs, got my very own cot @ the VFD. Then Isabel went north and I got the long board out & made The Weather Channel.
Oh no electricity for about six hours. Fired up my generator watched The Two Towers with a herd of High School kids.
Then had some great sex!
(with an adult female, not a HS kid, miss smarty pants)
I'm waiting on email about a hunting club I belong to, it's on an Island in Currituck Sound.

I'm blaming Isabel for my not being able to go online yesterday. Somehow, I have no idea how, I got the blaster worm. I spent the day getting rid of it and getting back online.
Stupid thing. Electronic graffitti created by bullies.

I once when I was stationed @ Naval Air Station, North Island. A Hurricane or a named storm crossed from The Gulf of Mexico (Atlantic) via Panama or Costa Rico and changed names when it hit the Pacific.
The Metrologist was quizzed, no major storm (this jg was full of useless tidbits) had hit California since 1939.
This was back when Lt. Col. Oliver North was busy in Cental America & Iran, but he before he became famous/infamous?
Now I know why that guy never had a date while he was watching weather for the Navy, the Weather, go figure.
He wanted to do the weather on TV, I understand they us lots of make-up.

Hurricanes don't hit California because the ocean off the coast is too cold to support them.
As for the hackers who create viruses, THEY are bullies, causing agravation, mental anguish, and the loss of expensive equipment to millions of people they have never even met. They are malicious, and thoughtless, and in my mind worse than any bully who ever picked on them.

1. Sorry I missed such a sight as you must have been on the Weather Channel.

FG- I agree with you about the hackers. They are petty @#$%s. I think they are close in mindset to those columbine jerks.
btw, I remember studying in school. You are right about the waters being too cold. Its because water in the northern hemisphere circulates clockwise (check your toilet :D). And that means the East coasts of continents gets water up from the equator, while the west sides get them from the arctic.
Its just for some odd reason the storms in america are called "hurricanes", but when they hit the orient they are called "typhons". Go figure. :D

I've been without power since last Thursday night. They say it will be restored before the end of this week. We had no serious damage, but some of my neighbors weren't so lucky (roof damage, destroyed decks, etc.). My neighborhood looks like a war zone and even sounded like one when the news chopper flew over!
Still, it could have been worse and it's given me an excuse to grow a beard (which my daughter hates with a passion).

If you don't mind, what part of Maryland are you in?

Frederick. Home of Snakehead fish, Anthrax ponds, snipers, and now extreme weather. What a great place to be.
We got electric back late last night, so the beard is gone.
Last night we got over 3 inches of rain and schools are closed today.
How are things in Baltimore?
