A penny saved is a penny earned.

Early to bed, early to rise.

The early bird gets the worm.

Never judge a book by it's cover

These I'm a little fuzzy on:

A stich in time saves nine?

A hand in the bush is better than what?

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise,"

and

"A penny saved is a penny earned,"

are both quotes from Poor Richard's Almanac, written by Benjamin Franklin.

Hardly useless wisdom.

But then, old Ben never met my wife.....

Ehh, to me alot of that stuff is empty rhetoric, but funs to say, like:

"Monkey see, Monkey do."

and what's that one,

"A hen in the house is worth, bla bla bla..."

Anyone know any more?

"A stitch in time saves nine" literally translated means if there is a small tear on your shirt and you fix it right away, the tear won't get any bigger. The real meaning of the saying is that you should take care of problems when they first appear, while they are small.

"A penny saved is a penny earned" means if you can save money it's as good as earning money.

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" I used to know this one, something about not hanging on to things and they might as well not be yours.

"The early bird gets the worm" means to be on the ball and you'll get the prize.

"Never judge a book by its cover" means not to take things at face value, just because a person looks a certian way, don't assume you know how they really are, but then you knew that, didn't you?

"One in the hand is worth two in the bush" refers to the old days of hunting. No matter how many potential prey you may find, it's the one you have already caught that counts. Don't expend too much energy for a diminishing return.

I don't know who said it, but it says it all.......
