I told all of you that my birthday coincided with X2's openning & I was taking it as a personal gift ;) I'd told my brother that (explained the whole DeSanto/BSG connection too) and we also discussed that 3 of our personal "have to sees" come out in my birth month this year (X2, Matrix Reloaded, and Finding Nemo)

Well, my brother is a HUGE movie fan (like the kind that has 63 movies on 12in Laserdisc, an unknown number of VHS tapes and I forgot how many dvds.) He LOVES movies. Until I went after Galactica VHS on Ebay he was probably responsible for 1/3 of the VHS tapes I had.

His card to me this year (we are both late with b-day cards to each other so it came today):
"Hope your birthday will be the exciting premiere... ....of a dynamite, action-packed, blockbuster year.

It gets better:
Inside: $20 of theatre ticket gift certificates.

Is that perfect, or what?:laugh::laugh:

Oh-oh, I still need to find a babysitter for the weekend!

Happy belated birthday...that was a most excellent gift. It is nice to see another movie geek out there...lol.... I have I have been collecting movies since I got "A New Hope" on black market vhs in 1977. I have collected over 1000 movies on vhs. Some are archived at the present. I don't have many DVDs though. Only about 30.... Just started collecting those.... I always ask for movies for my birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas. A thrilling moment for me was when I could buy movie tickets on-line. Now I am assured to get a seat for the openings of all my favorites...

Hi Jewels! So glad you enjoyed your birthday! My brother got me into movies too. He has a gazillion lasers and twice that many tapes. When Hi-Fi VCRS came out he struggled daily to get me to buy one (they were pretty expensive then). So much so, he actually came over my house WITH HIS OWN HIFI VCR and hooked it up to my big TV, just to show me!!! I was immediately sold and since then look to him for all things video, advice-wise.

He even talked me into writing a video database for us. Except of course with new formats coming out almost daily its impossible to keep up with the number of fields (I need to add an anamorphic flag now, eeks).

Hoping you are having the best of Memorial Day weekends! I think we're having a BBQ and my daughter's cousin and new 5 month old baby cousin are coming over. Great fun!

Cheers!

Before I discovered the internet, I did the pen-pal thing. I like this better tho, not just because of the instant gratification, but because of the group interaction.

So, I'll clink my glass of duL to the 'net.

Another great present would be to wake up, and discover that the "re-imagination" was all a horrible nightmare, and that we're getting the real thing.
NOT!
