Yes folks, here is our very own thread, in honor of Douglas Adams, to dazzle each other with the most bizarre things we can think of and can't find any place else they will fit. Feel free to post your wild and wacky meanderings here!

To start off, movies that display our feelings toward the new BSG! How about Oliver Twit, begging for a continuation thusly:

"Please sir, I want some more..."
:D

INQUIRING MINDS WANNA KNOW

Okay, I got a weird one for ya. I never thought about this before till it struck me the other day when a cousin said it:

"My water broke"

Errr, ummm, please explain to me exactly how water can break? We "break the ice", and we "break wind, but water that breaks???

Am I being silly?
Only the Guide knows for sure... :)

Flamingo Girl

Now that IS odd, as I asked someone today how one would break a dollar bill, paper doesn't break, it tears.

Duck tape?.....Ouch....well, maybe...if it comes with McGyver.....

Muffit
January 22nd, 2003, 09:35 AM
Hey, no fair! Why do ducks get all the credit? Don't beavers count for something? There's pigeon-toed, chicken pox, and goose pimples --- and none of these animals even have any talent --- hey, why can't there be beaver pimples? I say give beavers their own famous expression!!! How about www.ShowMeTheBeaver.com? :D

:beaver:

Flamingo Girl
January 22nd, 2003, 10:22 AM
Beavers have their own expresion, it's just not to be shared on a family-friendly board.

Muffit
January 22nd, 2003, 02:49 PM
Oops, oh yeah  I keep forgetting.

Well, how about an expression that /is/ family friendly? Let's see, what do beavers do? They build dams - oh shoot, another no-no word :)

Maybe I should switch to voles? :D

:muffit:

repcisg

Ever see a beaver walk on land? They waddle and drag their tail, so how about:

Waddles like a Beaver!
Or
Dragging his tail like a Beaver!
:D

Of course we make coats out of Beavers, so how about

She had hair a Beaver would be proud of.

Now I'll quit!

Rumor has it that Hitchhiker's Guide is headed for the big screen :). It's been in the works for a while but just never seemed to go anywhere. With the passing of Douglas Adams it seems to have jumpstarted it somewhat. One rumor is that Jim Carrey wants to be in it -- COOL!!!

Bsg1Fan1975,

Jim Carrey wants to play Zaphod(!) Rumor has it that Hugh Grant is in the running for Arthur. I would love to see Jim Carrey in it, that would ensure it was a hit!

Muffit

Hi Flamingo,

Actually, there are 5 books in the trilogy (trilogy?!), all available at amazon. I finally broke down and bought them a couple years ago. There's also a 6th which is the beginnings of a book and a lot of commentary about Adams (The Salmon of Doubt). I don't have that one. The books are:

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Restaurant at the End of the Universe
Life, the Universe and Everything
So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish
Mostly Harmless

Best fun reading I've had in many years. Marvin the depressed robot steals the show :D.

Here's the link for all of them (phew! The prices went up a bit!)

My sister's trilogy set had all 6 books.

Muffit
February 12th, 2003, 09:05 AM
That's cool! I haven't seen the group for sale as a unit yet, but that would be a lot cheaper I'm sure. Even the fact that the trilogy is a sextet is funny, the cover says:

"The fourth book in the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Trilogy" :D

Hope I wasn't being redundant, if so I apologize. I figured I should list the info anyway on account of this thread title :)

Well, Carrey may be ahead in the race to play Zaphod, but no one else but the original fella could put a Dent in his portrayal of Arthur.
