I think that this is a first amongst the cast of any Star Trek production, isn't it? But then, there really aren't that many cast members that are UK citizens.

James Doohan could have been knighted, Gemini.
I hope its a sharp sword and the queen is enthusiastic in the dubbing. Nimrod's been acting out of his rear end for decades. He won't miss his hat-rack.

I thought he was already a knight, when Arthur married his daughter...
Oh, right. :D

Not a fan so much of celebrities getting knighthoods over ordinary people. actually when was the last time an ordinary person in British society got a knighthood in England? too much of this fame and celeb business spoiling things, and most of these people getting knighthoods or M.B.E.'s., O.B.E.'s etc are always in question as to why beyond the simple fact, they're famous!
Still i'm surprised it taken this long after Ian Mckellan that Stewart been finally named for a knighthood anyhow. Figured he was left out all these years cos he was kinda arrogant or was snub somewhat.
And ya know this is going to give all those Bruce Forsyth supporters more cause for noise seeing how Brucey's always left out in the cold for all these years and at his age still hasn't been nominated for a knighthood yet? Over his younger peers. Awards are always questioned as to whom and why they're given out in the first place. Last year some of those olympic winners were given awards, over more deserving types. There should be a 'clause' preventing hand out knighthood regardless of who's famous or not, and earning one take something of extreme importance. and not just cos your an actor or entertainer. What about teachers, police, firemen, doctors, military personel and acts of heroism and self sacrifice etc.
Spending 50 plus years in the business fair enough. But lets keep things real in the future and not make it an award show for only the rich and famous getting knighthoods and women becoming dames, just cos they happen to be in particular professions and whatnot ya know?

nice .. I like Stewart and its great to him getting this ..
I like his Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol film but would have loved to have seen his stage version where he played all 40 characters.

If you do, then check out the 'DUNE - The Third Stage Edition' edit!
Synopsis: This is a special widescreen edit of David Lynch’s DUNE that reintegrates footage from the Extended Cut, as well as some deleted scenes, while attempting to preserve Lynch’s vision. Also, unfinished extended scenes have been fixed so eyes are digitally colored blue. The movie has been edited in such a way to preserve much of the sound and music of the theatrical cut, while incorporating Lynch’s scenes from the Extended Cut. Removed are the unapproved prologue paintings, male narrator, and fake “constructed” scenes from the Extended Cut. Various drafts of the script have been used to put scenes in a logical order. Our intent was to make an extended cut of DUNE that treats Mr. Lynch with respect.
