BST, some 300 members of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion marched behind George Lucas in the Tournament of Roses Parade this year.

Centurion, CF Member Gold Cylon (who hasn't been around in a while - hint, hint) runs ByYourCommand.net, which has a forum about building Cylon armor (and Halo armor and...).

http://byyourcommand.net/

He might be a good resource, too.

Have fun!

Gold Cylon, I'm not sure if there is anything posted in the Costuming guild here about the newly formed "Cylon Empire". I'm sure there are more people that might be interested that don't even know all of us costumers exist!

Yeah not a bad idea to make mention of this on a new thread Thanks.

I was watching the doco Heart of the Empire just the other day and was thinking how cool would it be if BSG fans did this stuff, too!

Cylons are almost as iconic as stormtroopers & better still its not just Darth Vader who gets the cool voice (By your command...)

There's something about a bad guy in good shell armour design that attracts attention, as I also know from medieval recreationist activities.. everyone at the demo loves the black knight best

Cheers

Cylons are very expensive to make mostly due to the chrome. That's why there's a gazillion Star Wars Stormtroopers out there and only a handful of Battlestar Galactica Cylons. Yes, www.byyourcommand.net is a great resource to learn all about Cylon Centurion costume making.

My advice to anyone who is looking to get into costuming or prop collecting as a hobby is to read around first and ask about the best places to do some searching. Stuff like armor gets considerably cheaper if you know the right people. Unfortunately it doesn't really work that way for a Warrior's costume!

Just don't jump in on the first resource you come across unless someone with experience tells you it is a great deal.

Cool.
Thanks for posting that. :) I was thinking of making a Cylon costume for Halloween and for other parties.

That march is on the new Star Wars Saga Blu Rays. I found it incredibly interesting.

It was a great event (I was invited to march in my pilot's outfit, but couldn't pull it off)

I have ALOT of friends that did march though. Amazing thing. and some great stories. :)
