Many of us go to sci-fi conventions whenever we can. I think it's safe to say that many of us love said conventions.
Many like to play dress up (cosplay is the word for it).
Some pull it off.
Some just can't! <-------these are their stories.
NOTE: If you are an easily offended sci fi cosplayer, this might not be for you...so consider yourselves warned.
Otherwise, have a good laugh.
I know I did.

BST, don't be afraid to get a costume (hopefully it would be your Warrior's outfit).
Those pictures were the "bad" exceptions. I've seen far more "good" costumes than bad.

I gave in to the dark side last Halloween when my "alter ego"(Darth Nelson) arrived in town for the evening. I have the pic, but I'm too lazy to post it. Just imagine a 5' 3" guy with a gut in a Vader suit bar hopping. 'Nuff said.

I'm placing my question in this thread because my question is a little odd.
I know that sound effects are often reused, and if you watch a movie enough times, you recognize the sounds in the background if they show up again somewhere else.
This morning, as I was channel surfing, TCM was showing the movie Born Free, which is, I believe, from 1965. A film which has nothing to do with outer space, but is about a lion named Elsa in Africa.
In one scene, Elsa chases some elephants. The screeches the elephants make as they are charging are almost identical to the sounds of the spaceships speeding by in Star Wars. If you don't believe me, go watch Born Free.
Did George Lucas borrow this sound effect, thinking that no one would ever look for its origins in a 1960s family nature movie?

That is a good question, Skipper, because I swore I used to hear TIE Fighter sounds representing creature roars in "Lost In Space". ...a show that was on years before Star Wars.

I saw the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats," starring George Clooney and Ewan McGregor. I am wondering if there has been any discussion of this movie by Star Wars fans. If you've seen the movie, it could almost be an alternate history of the training of Obi-Wan Kenobi!
