Awesome!

I love the lighting!

:)

Top Notch work. And by all means welcome to the FLeets!

Couple of questions what programs are you using to assemble the animation?

Lightwave, maya ect?

Thanks for posting this. I loved it.

This new animation of yours is one of the best I have ever seen. The detail on the Battlestars in particular is amazing. With this sort of ability sci-fi should live in the hands of fans forever...

One small thing I wasn't too keen on was the occasional camera 'wobbles' when a ship was hit. Perhaps just a personal preference....

Also, can I ask a question of people about the music. Richard Hatch has used that tune in his trailers, and when watching a re-run of Crimson Tide I recognised it. What is this piece, it is something that is very available and a lot of people use ? As you also list at as being from The Rock ?

It works very well with Galactica as well....

Truly amazing effort........

I like it. :)

Couple of minor issues, most noticibly towards the end the viper collition seemed, bumper-carish.
But....I really enjoyed it, and wish I could do stuff to this level. Well done!

HOLY FRACK!!!!

That was awesome! I shall have to do reconstructive surgery on my jaw after I pick it back up off the floor.

Damn, you know, it's been talked about so many times before....trying to get fans collaborating on fanfilms, and with this kind of talent.....the possibilities are staggering.

We got Charybdis who has built a Viper cockpit and helmet, and complete costume to boot, and has made a couple of short fanfilms.

We got Titon, Sandy, Warrior, and a host of others who totally rock with modelmaking.

We got artists like Taranis.

We got Starmaster who just created this total astrum kicking animation.

We got writers like Commander Taggart, and Dawg. (and a whole host of others).

I do some writing and am getting ready to tackle miniature FX photography again.

Oy, the dream of making our own continuation, or even pre-holocaust movie.

One small point if I may....at the beginning we see 8 Battlestars. However, a few seconds later we see a shot of the BSG Fleet and it only contains 4 Battlestars...

I also wish we could see a Star Destoryer blow up ! That would be cool since we do see, in the background, a Battlestar blow up....

I've watched this about 10 times, it really is great !

Welcome to the Fleets Starmaster. The animations are outstanding, and I would really like to see more.

It takes me back to the days when I used to hang out at spacebattles.com, many many years ago.

Hey all, thanks for the comments :). The animation was made completly with Lightwave 7.0, hoping to get a new version soon and took 8-10 months or so if depending if you count on breaks or not. Anyway, gotta admit that I'm not a great modeler, but I am totally in if someone wants to do a BS project cause blowing things up if my forte. One of these days I will get my hands on some artbeats footage. Just got the new BS model (BTW that link just dosent work even after 5 posts) so I am itching to try a new full lenght project with that.

Starmaster i have two cd's full of high rez explosions for cg. They are in targa format.

Been a while since i looked but i think the dual set is called pyromania pro.

I was impressed with your cg explosions anyways but having the hi rez targa's would really add realism.

I also like how the camera had the cineme verite feel. TOS imagery with a TNS feel.
Very well done.

Is there anyway this fanfilm can be hosted with a direct link available to it ?

Oh, and I echo Gideon's compliment and question about if you have any more ? Or are you making anymore ?

A starship that I am involved with designing. I got the hull #s from that album. This has been going on for at least two years now. I originally designed the ship and Jason "VEKTOR" Lee is doing the 3d Max version of it... here's some shots of it from TrekBBS...

What a great idea !

Not sure about the name USS Gandeur though ? Why not have one based on a song title ?

I work with some of the band, when it gets finished I can e-mail it to them, and see what they think !

This is great....but sorry this is happening in your thread Starmaster !

Awesome, really liked the camerawork !!!!!

As for the new BSG model link, many people complaint about the link not working, maybe a mod can have a look at it.

Again fantastic work, maybe one day I see an animation of yours with Santee finished model.

Did I do something wrong to you, why are you calling me Mr., it makes me feel like an olg guy. OK, I am, in comparison to a lot of you younger guys modeling in here. Wish I could have the chance of modeling when I was that young. Next time call me Wil. :)

Nice to see my name in the credits there, might have been even nicer if I was emailed about the animation rather than having to find out by accident.

I've never even seen a picture of my viper rendered by someone else, never mind an entire animation.

Nice to see it in action at last, maybe next time I can get a heads up first.

Hi starmaster .

I just followed a link to this thread from scifi-meshes, and had to sign up just so I can say wow.

WOW!

This is an amazing video.

(now for my ulterior motive...)

Where did you get the explosion images? are they free or comercial?

Cheers,

I've got to admit I groaned when I saw the movie was a show-vs-show battlefest, but I have to admit I'm hugely impressed.

To nitpick: I think the camerawork was a tad bouncy, but generally very well executed. The whip-pans, fast-zooms and the rest was all done with great reserve, (that's a complement ;) ) but sometimes it didn't feel like there was a real cameraman in there. Maybe it could have been tightened up a little.

Second - and my only big constructive crit - is you open with a few shots of Battlestars on the right and Imperials on the left, and then a few shots in you break the 180 rule and suddenly the Battlestars are on the left. The result is just a brief moment where you think the good guys are the bad guys.

Other than that the whole film had a lot of style and some great shots. I really liked the dodgem vipers at the end too! ;)

If you ever fancy a team up with another Lightwaver for an animation, give me a shout :D
