Hi all I found these pictures on the web and wanted to share them, they are not by me but some fella called " todd " must have taken him ages to get it right but here you are. Its only missing the Galactica and a few Vipers :D

http://img113.echo.cx/img113/4831/70673dcomparison28dg.th.jpg (http://img113.echo.cx/my.php?image=70673dcomparison28dg.jpg)

http://img87.echo.cx/img87/1461/70673dcomparison4jh.th.jpg (http://img87.echo.cx/my.php?image=70673dcomparison4jh.jpg)

What do you think of the scales . agree or disagree????

I JUST RELISED.... That I should not have posted this here as its not Galactica
related to be in the art section can it be moved sometime into say the starwars thread....

Sorry for the mess up :(

Don't worry about it, T.

I think we're going to end up lifting that little "request" of where to post art for the Forums and just leave it to the Galleries and Downloads anyways.

They look to scale... The guy must've hand carved each one of those to get them to scale.

Here's a reference website that I use for starship size comparisons.

http://www.merzo.net/index.html

Of course there are problems with the kligon bird of prey and the defiant sizes.

I remember reading about the sizes of the BOP. but not the Defiant and when I first look at the pictures above I thought it was a bit bigger then it should be?? .. They are both cool sites shugotenshi I forgot about merzo.net.

That looks like a federation starbase laying on it's side behind the borg cube and the superstar destroyer.

I wish whoever did this pic would've stood her up...

There are different types of Bird of Prey, the main ones being the B'rel-Class and the K'vort-Class. The B'rel is classed as a Scout Ship and the K'vort as a Crusier, and as such is bigger than the B'rel

I used to play the old FASA based Star Trek: Role Playing Game, and Starship Combat Simulator.

In the Klingon Ship Recognition manual, there were three different Birds of Prey...

1. The Bird of Prey (scout class)
2. The Stronger Bird (slightly larger..I think destroyer class)
3. The Great Bird (largest...Cruiser Class)

Well, thanks to the Starship Construction Manual I had bought, I had created two more classes of Birds of Prey.

1. Smaller than the Bird of Prey (in fact, fighter class...called "Little Wing")
2. Considerably larger than the Great Bird (on par with Next Generation ships...the K'vort...aka Big Bird)

:D

Irreverent, but true,

3. The Great Bird (largest...Cruiser Class)

Now that is a nod to Gene Roddenberry.

They used the bird of prey model from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock for both classes instead of building seperate models for the k'vort class. As a result, you have a model built for a size 110m starship (ST:III) being used to protray a 300m-400m starship (TNG). As you can see by the article http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/bop-size.htm , there's alot of problems with this.

Here's an article on starship design guidelines for anyone interested. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/design.htm

Here's another federation starship size chart. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/size_table.htm

While I'm at it. Here's an article about the akira class size problems. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/akira-size.htm

Now only if I can find that article on the delta flyer....

In many cases, I think it has always been more difficult to convey a real sense of scale between different ships on the small screen, than it has the big screen.

Yes, the Bird of Prey is the most inconsistently scaled model I have ever seen. :)

Martok you have not answered the question !!! What ship would you go home in. The BOP or the Blockade Runner :)

HA! That is a good question.

For sheer aesthetics, the Blockade Runner.

For combat prowess, the BoP, hands down. :D

I would have chosen the Blockade Runner aka Corellian Corvete

Bird of prey hands down.

I just noticed that the romulan warbird is 300m longer then it should be.
