I got this via email today:

Hi Peter,

Thanks for you inquiry.

We are still working on putting the final touches on this set together, but I can tell you that we hope to be able to include two autograph and one costume card in each box. Signers for this set so far include Jane Seymour, Alex Hyde-White, Anne Lockhart, Sarah Rush, Glen A. Larson, Ed Begley, Jr. and Britt Ekland.

The base will focus on the various main characters of the show, their relationship with each other, memorable quotes and short character bios.

I put Rittenhouse and Robyn Douglass in contact, and I am pleased to have heard that there will be a Jamie Hamilton autograph card...

This is great news, as I bought two boxes of the Original Series collector cards from Rittenhouse in January of 2004. Got four autograph cards (since then have added two more, plus the Adama costume card), and completed most of the mini-sets within the base set. Great, great product to look forward to....

I'm looking forward to the set and autographs. If there are any sketchafex cars though, I'll not bother collecting them again because the prices are just too daft to contemplate.

Even I'm not that much of a completist, even though I've got all the other BSG sets that have been released over the years!

I too originally planned to get the Sketchafex cards, but upon seeing the prices just couldn't afford it. And to be honest considering some of the prices I wouldn't spend that much money, I think one went for nearly $1000 for a coloured gold cylon.

I am very much looking forwards to the Costume Cards. The Adama one was great, and I will be specifically collecting those, along with the basic set, chase sets and binder.

I started another thread about this when I saw a page about the set on the official Rittenhouse website. It makes sense to copy it here as well. Check out :

Just saw Chris today. He's doing well and is very busy. Anyway, he told me that he is planning to put up another website soon. Chris said he will post hear when the new site is up and running. I for one am looking forward to see more of his art on the net.

I think Rittenhouse have done us proud again, though the thought of someone cutting bits out of TOS costumes disturbs me greatly!

The continuation of the original 132-card Topps set is a masterstroke!

Well spotted....that they've done an update to their site, adding the checklist of cards. Never seen them showing people posing in the costumes before, helps show they are real.

I highly anticipate having a lot of this set on my Xmas list !

Sadly this set has been delayed until 11th January 2006.......very unfortunate as it was on my Xmas list !!!!

I wonder why the delay?

I just noticed the pics of the outfits they are cutting up. How very sad. There goes many exhibits for a BSG museum. Classic memorabilia lost forever...

But they spent the money, and it's good for card sales.

I just ran through the checklist. I haven't seen the expansion of the original set, but the names of the cards, for example "Horror!", "A Boy and his Daggit", and "Sucide Attack!" are dead on just like the names of the cards in the Topps set. And these are supposed to have photo backs that made a big picture as well.

I also noticed the regular set is based on the characters. With multiple cards for several actors/actresses, and they tacked on some 80 characters at the end. I'm very excited about seeing these!

Has anyone actually ordered these yet? I saw them on ebay at like $60 plus shipping. My local comic store wants $72. Has anyone found a cheaper source?

KA.....by that do you mean per box ?

If so, I suggest you DON'T buy like that. Wait a week or so after release, and go on ebay. You can buy full sets for as a little as $5.....and each individual special card is available for its own price. Some dealers will sell you special deals, or even a full finished set !

I could make the introduction to a very fair (US) dealer if anyone wishes to PM me. She's who I get mine from.

Even with the shipping to the UK its still worth while ! There are UK dealers, but they tend to charge more for the same thing from the US even after extra postage costs ! If you try and complete the set with special cards by buying by the $60 box it will cost thousands !!!

Thanks Ernie. That is a good point. I thought about that after I bought a box last year. I lucked out and got good auto cards and a great hand drawn one all in the same box. It made it worth it.

There is something fun about opening all those packs too!

I am pondering........

I still need a Starbuck signed card! SOMEDAY!!!

Well I just checked out the Rittenhouse page and just noticed thumbnails along with the checklist:

http://www.scifihobby.com/products/checklist.cfm?SetID=130

I'm now very interested in the cards (aside from the costume cards). I bet the sky's the limit for the double Hatch/Benedict signed card.

Well, $300 starting bid...

Now questions...

Ernie said:

I put Rittenhouse and Robyn Douglass in contact, and I am pleased to have heard that there will be a Jamie Hamilton autograph card...

What happened with that? I'd much rather have had the Jamie card than a Dr. Zee that reminds me of Wesley Crusher.

And who was slated for card A26? Douglass?

Robyn Douglass was to be A26. I don't know what is happening with it. I put them in touch, and during the summer I had an e-mail from Robyn saying she was moving house and would be out of contact till Aug 20th. Despite repeated e-mails after this date, incoluding asking if she was OK after Katrina.....I have heard nothing back. Not a thing. I'd also arranged a possible Convention appearance....never heard back....

I'm debating whether to collect this set, or wait a while until the prices cool down. Its inevitable.

Ernie,

Thanks for the response. Hope Robyn is doing well. Absolutely prices will cool after the initial public offering. You are paying premium prices now to be able to get the cards as soon as possible. Now they are offering the regular auto cards for $20. The first set auto cards can be had for less than $10 today.

What surprises me is that the 1978 "expansion set" is selling for $50 a set. Fifty some cards that is supposed to be an addition to the old Topps set. I didn't think it would sell for $1 per card...

Already its being pre-sold on the ebay at a cheaper price that the above for each part....and after the buzz has died down a bit...that's when best to buy....
